Orlando Theme Parks Transportation

Orlando is one of the most visited cities in the world. While typically associated with major theme parks, the city offers big fun for everyone. From family attractions to world-class shopping, food fit for a king to cool street art, it’s all here and way more!

Walt Disney World Transportation

If you haven’t been to Walt Disney World before, you may be a little surprised at the sheer size of the place. The Most Magical Place on Earth is huge. Think city huge.

At 43 square miles, it’s the size of San Francisco! Disneyland in California would fit into Disney World 59 times.

This sprawling complex is home to 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, 3 championship golf courses, a 9 hole golf course and 2 miniature golf courses. There’s also a camp ground, a downtown retail and dining district and almost 12,000 acres of preservation land.

Magic Kingdom – The first of the Disney park to open in Florida. Magic Kingdom began life in 1971. It’s magical for all ages and has more to offer younger members of the family than the other parks. It’s still magical for adults and teens too. It’s really where the magic happens, with pixie dust sprinkled on top.

Epcot –  Experimental Prototype Community oTomorrow. Mr Walt Disney’s very own vision of tomorrow opened in 1982. The park is twice the size of the Magic Kingdom and spans 300 acres. This park is currently undergoing a major transformation.

This Disney World park is split into 4 neighborhoods. World Showcase represents 11 countries surrounding Showcase Lagoon. Other Epcot neighborhoods are: World Nature, World Discovery and World Celebration.

Hollywood Studios –  The third Walt Disney World park opened its doors in 1989. Hollywood Studios celebrates the wonderful world of showbiz, in particular the golden Hollywood years of the 1930s and 1940s.

It’s a must do for Star Wars fans – Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is out of this world. Toy Story Land will thrill Toy Story movie fans.

Animal Kingdom – The biggest of all the Walt Disney World parks at 500 acres and the second largest theme park in the world. The latest addition to the Walt Disney World opened its doors in 1998. The Animal Kingdom theme is centered entirely around a dedication to conservation.

The park offers animal encounters, rides, shows and safaris and is perfect for all ages. Expedition Everest is a popular ride and came with a construction price tag of $100,000,000, it is also a miniscule below the Federal Aviation for height restrictions. At 199.5 feet tall, it just scrapes by not requiring a red flight beacon.

Walt Disney World Water Park – Disney is home to two super fun and family friendly water parks.

Typhoon Lagoon opened in 1989 and is themed on a tropical paradise that survived a typhoon.

Blizzard Beach opened 1995 with a winter-themed fun in a water park setting, including a 12-story drop down the high-speed waterslide Summit Plummet.

Universal Orlando and its’ conjoined twin, Islands of Adventure, are independent entities that can be visited separately or combined by purchasing a two park ticket.

They are both within walking distance of each other and are divided by Universal Orlando’s dining and retail complex ‘City Walk’.

Not only are Universal Studios Orlando and Islands of Adventure two amazingly great parks in their own right, each one has the added bonus of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Hogsmeade was the first ‘theme park within a theme park’ to open to much fanfare at Islands of Adventure in 2010 and has been such a massive success that expansion was inevitable. Dragon Alley opened its doors in 2014 much to the delight of Harry Potter fans all over the world.

No expense was spared in creating the two utterly enchanting lands at a staggering cost of $265 million

Hogsmeade and Dragon Alley are joined by a short but thoroughly entertaining ride on the famous Hogwarts Express. Universal Orlando has cleverly created the enticing prospect of gorging yourself on the magic of Harry Potter Orlando. And, believe me, everything about both lands penned by J.K.Rowling are just magical. Ride the Forbidden Journey, Dragon Challenge, Flight of the Hippogriff and Escape from Gringotts, eat at the Leaky Cauldron or the Three Broomsticks and check out the variety of shops selling everything that Harry and his friends might need for their mythical education and enjoyment.

The two parks are totally different, so if you only have the chance to do one, then it really depends what you prefer. Universal Studios is dedicated to the movies and TV shows.

Its home to coasters and virtual rides, live shows, and a variety of attractions.

Islands of Adventure offer more rides and has several themed lands.

SeaWorld Orlando is one of the world’s favorite marine parks. SeaWorld Entertainment incorporates SeaWorld Orlando, Discovery Cove and Aquatica.

Busch Gardens  in Tampa is the final piece of the jigsaw.

At SeaWorld Orlando teens will love the thrill rides, especially Mako, Journey to Atlantis, Kraken and Manta. They can also now tackle the brand-new Ice Breaker, the park’s first multi-launch coaster.

Legoland  – Set in over 150-acres, Legoland Florida has over 50 rides, attractions and shows, plus a water park and botanical garden.

Peppa Pig  – The newest gate at LEGOLAND Florida Resort, Peppa Pig Theme Park was built with small kids (and their parents) in mind. With marvelously mild attractions such as Peppa Pig’s Balloon Ride and Grampy Rabbit’s Dinosaur Adventure, play areas such as Pirate Island Sand Play and Muddy Puddles Splash Pad and engaging entertainment at Mr. Potato’s Showtime Arena and the indoor Cinema, tadpoles will have a blast snorting, giggling and playing with Peppa and all of her friends!

Now you know the basics, it’s time to plan. It might still feel a little overwhelming, but try to think of planning for your Orlando trip as part of your vacation.
